Baptism means to dip or immerse. We see in the bible that water baptism is a symbolic act where a new Christian identifies with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. Water baptism is also a public profession of the person’s repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and a way of giving an outward testimony to the inward work of God. Outward sign of an Inward work.
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Colossians 2:12 “buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”
